General Update.

Punky is a force to be reckoned with these days.  For some reason, she's decided she can come in our room at varying intervals during the night...you know, 12, 3, 5, 6, 6:30, 6:45 and 7.  She's getting her last molar so at first I thought that was it.  But it's continuing.  On and on.  I never in a million years thought my 6 week old would be sleeping better than my 2.5 year old.  Punky has never been any trouble with sleep.  She's always loved it just as much as I do except for recently.  It makes me wonder if I need to cut back on her nap, but I had so hoped to get at least a year with them all sleeping at the same time before I had to relinquish Punky's nap.  Even then, I still maintain it will be quiet time in her room until Cupcake is done with her napping in 3 years.  I don't think that's a stretch, do you?

Chicken is still worrying me with his speech.  I know, I know, he's a BOY and boy's are traditionally slower at learning to speak, especially since he's the middle child and after a girl.  Even though he's met his milestones, I still worry.  Punky was putting words together by 12 or 14 months.  He's 18 months and can barely say 20 words.  I try not to compare them.  I KNOW Chicken comprehends a lot of things.  He can point to almost anything I ask him about, follows directions well and is healthy and active.  It's just how long it's taken him to get to the few words he does know.  Maybe I should start sitting down with him more and teaching him.  Never too early to begin homeschooling.

Cupcake is having tummy troubles, although I think the formula switch we made is doing wonders.  I took her to the pediatrician yesterday just to talk with the doc about it all and she weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs 13 oz.  I can't believe she's already gained almost three pounds since birth!  She still doesn't look fat to me although I can see a few little creases where rolls will be, she just looks ridiculously long.  She's got long skinny legs and arms.  Her cheeks make up the most of her weight I do believe.  Anyway, we switched her formula to a lactose-free (sensitive) formula - not soy - and I have barely known she was in the house.  She had one little crying spell last night around midnight but put herself back to sleep after about 5 minutes (and I think that's because we were a couple of hours off on her reflux medicine).  She even slept a 5 hour stretch and I was able to hold her off all night without eating (with her pacifier.)  I do think she'll be sleeping through the night in another few weeks.  I can tell her sleep is getting straightened out because at precisely 7 at night she goes into a deeper sleep and doesn't really wake up again until sometime in the middle of the night.  I'm amazed at how well she's doing!  Let's just hope the tummy troubles are straightened out with this new formula!

Hope everyone is doing well.  I think this week on weight watchers has been a bust after the holiday and such.  Plus I still haven't gotten any exercise in.  I know now that's definitely the difference.

I think quiet time in their room is perfectly fine. Moms need a little break and nap time is the only time to get it. As for Chicken's speech, I wouldn't worry. I am sure he is absorbing more than you think. One day he will probably just start talking. That is what my sister did. At 2 she only said a few words and all of a sudden on vacation she starting talking in full sentences and never stopped. You can never tell. I think some of it is that the older sibling does so much talking that the younger one doesn't have to. I am glad Cupcake is doing better and is sleeping great! I hope Punky gets back to her old sleeping habits soon too. Just think when you look at Cupcake, that is the weight Tyler was when he was born. Crazy, I know. He came into this world a month old.

Bear has been waking up a lot during the night too but I hate to cut back on his nap because he gets so cranky with out it. He is 19 months and says maybe 20 words too. I think boys are just a little behind most girls on speech development.
